TriTorch: Karma is money at best and a liability at worst, and is the only thing you take with you into the next life. Daniel Nagase MD: Interesting thing I learned a few years back about the Norse (Viking/Scandinavian) system. After a number of lifetimes in the overworld (Heaven), the soul becomes weakened with the "sins" of easy living. e.g. fear, greed, and jealousy. When a soul is tarnished by an accumulation of "sins", it passes into the underworld (Hell). Each lifetime in the underworld is meant to purify the soul from sins acquired from an unchallenged life in the overworld. For example the soul tained by greed will experience loss after loss in a "living hell" until that soul overcomes greed and regains its humanity. After a number of lifetimes in "Hell" the final goddess of the underworld is "Hella" where she puts the soul through "Hell". Possibly by testing all the sins at once. Once a soul is "purified", fearless, courageous and free of pride, jealousy and greed, that soul with virtues hardened and tested by the fires of hell can once again enter the "Overworld" In the Viking "system", hardship is not a vindictive punishiment. Hardship is a trial meant to strengthen and purify the soul. This system made individuals who could overcome anything, both in life and death. TriTorch: Dr. Negase, that is incredibly profound. I will add it to the tritorch library with credit to you momentarily. Pain and failures are the best teachers, but no one wants to be their student... Edit: Hardship is tempering. A painful but necessary purification in order to forge our best selves.
